Background
The Accelerating Impacts of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa (AICCRA) project helps African countries strengthen the resilience of their agricultural sectors to the threat posed by climate change. As the name suggests, AICCRA is part of CGIAR, a global partnership that unites international organisations engaged in research about food security. CGIAR research aims to reduce rural poverty, increase food security, improve human health and nutrition, and sustainable management of natural resources.
AICCRA support research and capacity-building activities carried out by the CGIAR centres and partner organisations, with the goal of enhancing access to climate information services and validated climate-smart agriculture technologies in Africa. By gaining better access to climate advisories linked to information about effective response measures, farmers and livestock keepers will be able to better anticipate climate-related events and take preventative actions that can help to safeguard productive activities and avoid catastrophic losses.
Brief
The brief was to create a distinctive visual identity which communicated their ambitions, focus and values, whilst also sitting comfortably along side the already established CGIAR brand. In order to create compelling social media content and to disseminate the identity internally and externally a series of templates and assets were required.
Results
The inspiration behind this identity comes from the concept of partnerships, and the sharing of vital scientific climate information, with AICCRA as a visible, influential node at the centre of the network. Each coloured concentric circle represents the key audiences and partnerships of AICCRA. The concentric circle became the graphic which acts as a device to hold text and images.
