Community Safety and Security

Background
In October 2023, the Security team changed their name to the Community Safety and Security team in a bid to be more proactive, visible, and approachable throughout the university. They wanted a new visual identity to reflect this change.

The brief
The project brief was to create a sub-brand that adhered to Imperial College’s new visual identity while also establishing a distinct sub-identity for the Community Safety and Security team. The goal was to give the team a unique visual presence that embodied security, trust, and community support.

Results
The final design concept was inspired by Guilloche patterns, often used in secure documents, symbolising a protective, interconnected structure. The patterns we created were derived from a shield shape which reinforced the theme of

security and created a strong, sophisticated visual identity. “24/7” was featured throughout the identity to emphasise that the Community Safety and Security team works around the clock to keep students and staff safe and secure. The new branding seamlessly integrates with the Imperial College brand, while giving the Community Safety and Security team a distinct and recognisable presence.
