Background
The Student Accommodation Office provides accommodation support for students at all stages of their accommodation journey. The SAO’s work can largely be split into two main focuses – work relating to Halls Accommodation and Private Accommodation.
The brief
The Student Accommodation Office asked us to create a visual identity that gave them their own recognisable presence within the overarching Imperial brand. They wanted a visual difference between the materials for halls and those for private accommodation, while still feeling connected. The look and feel needed to work across digital and printed mediums, and include templates to make it easy for the staff to produce their own materials.
A few years after we created the identity Imperial went through a major rebrand, and we were asked to update and refresh the original design to conform to university’s new brand guidelines.
Results
The look and feel is based on vector illustrations that are used in one or two colours.
For the halls look and feel we created a suite of 13 windows graphics, directly reflecting the windows of the various buildings available as part of the halls of residence at Imperial.
The private accommodation illustrations were based on small storage spaces, for example shelves and coat hooks, containing the items that help students to study, socialise and relax. By focusing on small details the concept works well across different budgets, postcodes and shared spaces.
