Plumbing Poverty

Background
Plumbing Poverty is a research project analysing insecure water access in Europe and the United State, investigating why household water insecurity arises and persists in wealthy cities and countries. By identifying key pattens and drivers of plumbing poverty, the project aims to explain household water insecurity in relation to the changing political economy of public service provision.

Brief
The team behind Plumbing Poverty approached us to create a visual identity to highlight their vital research raising awareness of plumbing poverty, and its prominence in low-income households living in wealthy, urban cities.

Results
We created a grungy, hard-hitting identity with a stark colour pallet and bold typography. To demonstrate the human cost, we created an illustration style to demonstrate the suffering caused by insecure, unaffordable plumbing, while keeping individual identities anonymous. To get the message across we applied the identity to an accessible, responsive website, as well as a PPT deck for the team to use in presentations.
